In the Know in YYC Feature: Imperial Oil
Welcome to In The Know. Today we’re getting in the know about Imperial. Canada, as a country, was only 13 years old when Imperial was formed in 1880. They grew with Canada and by 1893 Imperial had branch offices from Halifax to Victoria. In 1907, Imperial also created, what is believed to be, the first fuel service station, located in Vancouver. The “station” used a converted water tank and dispensed gasoline through a garden hose. After 143 years of supporting horsepower, today Imperial also supports horse power as the proud, official fuel supplier of the Calgary Stampede. Imperial and its Esso and Mobil fuel brands will be fueling the Calgary Stampede’s 120-vehicle fleet. And they’re also sparking joy in every night by supporting the Kid’s Chuck Challenge during the Cowboys Range-land Derby chuck wagon races. From a history of providing energy across Canada, to supporting vibrant events like the Calgary Stampede, Imperial is fueling Canada. And now you’re In the Know.
