A Japanese rock outfit that is part of the "Visual Kei" genre, Alice Nine formed in 2004 from the ashes of the band Givuss. Givuss' Shou (vocals) and Tora (guitars) formed Alice Nine with remaining members Hiroto (guitars), Saga (bass), and Nao (drums) and signed to the PS Company label. They played their first show in May of 2004, and in the following two years, Alice Nine released a handful of singles and EPs. The band released their debut album, Zekkeishoku in 2006. The album sold well, and the group undertook a major tour in support of it. 2007 found Alice Nine performing outside their home country for the first time, playing the JRock Revolution Festival in Los Angeles. Later that year, Alice Nine released their follow-up full-length, Alpha, which was a top ten seller in Japan. ~ Chris True, All Music Guide
