Who's playing halftime?
If you haven't heard, The Otherside and their song, "Going Blind" were the regional winners of the National Songwriting Competition. Catchy tune, good bunch of guys and they're off to Toronto to represent Calgary for Canadian Music Week in March. You can check them out online here, http://www.myspace.com/TheOthersideOnline
And you can vote for them for the grand prize here, www.radiostar.ca
What's with the Who for halftime at the Superbowl? Who's picking the bands for this thing, Jay Leno? Let's pick the safest, most recognizable band that is still mostly alive. Remember, half of the Who have left us. Roger and Pete can still pack a punch but really.....is there not someone a little more current they could have picked. For halftime of a football game too!! I can understand why they wouldn't pick Def Leppard, the NHL learned the hard way with them. U2, Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones, they've all done it.
But how about......
Foo Fighters......A good candidate but, Dave Grohl is busy in Them Crooked Vultures right now.
Red Hot Chili Peppers......You remember "Nipple-gate"? How about "Sock-gate". That and Californication isn't exactly Pep-rally material.
Weezer.......Risk of all the jocks pummeling the nerds in the middle of "Hash Pipe"
Nickelback ...."All in, balls out" what more do you need to say? Oh yeah, "She looks so good with something in her mouth". Yeah, they'll totally let that one go.....not.
Guns N Roses.....ha ha ha OK, maybe not
Metallica.....They actually played the parking lot of a Raiders playoff game a few years ago. Still too scary for the big show, had to keep them in the parking lot.
Puddle Of Mudd....They wrote the ultimate guys anthem, "She Hates Me". Could have a slight problem with the censors with that one.
Creed.....Nobody would admit to watching the halftime show the next day.
Green Day......Risk of Billy Joe pulling his pants down. Not a friend of George Bush (see Pearl Jam)
Ozzy Osbourne......Definitely give the censors a run for their money, if only they could understand him.
Pearl Jam.....Pearl Jam and George Bush are not friends. Jerry Jones (owner of the Dallas Cowboys) and George Bush are good friends. Jerry wins that one
Aerosmith....Then again, maybe not. Still not sure what's going with the lead singer situation there.
So, I wonder if the Who are available?
