So Long Kim Kardashian!! .... Sort Of.....
Lets have a hip-hip-hooray for the CRTC. Looks like it could finally be the end of the bundle packages nobody wants but the cable companies.
There is finally a chance I might just be able to get rid of the Kardashian family once and for all, the commission wants us to be able to pick the channels we want and not be forced to get the ones we never turn on, what a great idea that took a long time to arrive.
The cable companies will still be able to offer their services n tiers, but you will be offered an al la carte system as well and now that almost everyone has shifted to digital this will be a breeze.
All of us want more choice without being forced to take the vegetable channel or the fire log.
The company that has led the way in changing is based in Nova Scotia called Eastlink, they have bucked the trend and started charging $2.50 a month for a specialty digital channel and it drops to $1.25 if you choose more than 12, and I think most of us would like about 60 channels.
The biggest complaint is paying for something you don’t need if a household watches a basic 25-channel menu, nobody should be able to tell you what you have to buy.
The theme packs that have caused many to switch to Netflicks and the like are preferred by providers but lots of people are shunning that in favor of getting entertainment streamed from the computer and that means more and cheaper choices for all of us.
It will be an interesting time to see who wins out in the end, at least it wont be the Kardashians.
For the time being I am a bit of a TV junkie so I will have to narrow down the 230 channels I have and streamline my viewing but in the meantime the next few years are going to be filled with exciting choices programmed by you.
