Yeah, Winter Sucks. But This Will Help...

With the incredible weather we are having it’s been hard to think about the start of the ski season but its not far away and snow is just around the corner and already on the peaks.

This is a great time of the year to enjoy the mountain parks as the numbers of tourists drops dramatically and so do the prices.

Hotels are offering anywhere from 25% to 45% at this time of year for their best rooms in order to fill them and its easier to get into great restaurants like the fabulous Grizzly House.

We are just over a month away from World Cup events in Lake Louise, with The Winterstart World Cup.

This is the first event of the season and Canada’s highest profile event being an alpine ski race.

The world class and fastest skiers in the world will be competing for downhill supremacy right out of the gate in the heart of Rocky Mountains.

This will also be the only chance this year our own Alpine ski team can win Gold on our soil, so they are hoping for big crowds to turn out and support them on the hill.

If you are planning on bringing the whole family they have a special festival area set up with free hot chocolate, contests games and ice sculptures.

The Lake Louise World Cup Men’s Race is on November 24th from 11:30 till 1:00 pm at The Lake Louise Ski Area and the Super G race goes Sunday the 25th at the same time and venue.

If the snow in the mountains continues at higher elevations the ski season is set to open in Lake Louise on November 9th with Sunshine Village opening the same day.

Mount Norquay is due to be open a little later on November 30th, there will be weekend operations snow permitting starting on November 3rd for those who just cant wait to strap on the boards.

If you want to stay out of the Park and do some great hiking Canmore my home away from home has been packed with hikers, bikers and shoppers all fall and hotels are an even better deal because they are looking for local Albertans as opposed to the tourists from across the pond.
