If you are a TV buff like myself, you have probably watched a lot of the reality shows and said to yourself; 'Hey, I could do better than that.' OK maybe not American Idol because I am tone deaf, but shows like Fear Factor, Survivor and Big Brother.

Well now comes your chance to step up at the plate and take a swing at your dreams of becoming famous here in the great white north.

If you are not camera shy, an extrovert, have good communication skills and like playing games then Shaw Media and Insight productions can’t wait to hear from you.

I am sure you are familiar with what Canadian Networks do when they see a good idea and a hit show.  They steal it so Big Brother Canada is on the way hoping to catch some of the popularity of it's American counterpart.

The show will be based on its predecessor and will take place in a house outfitted with a ton of cameras to follow you everywhere you roam and capture every little detail of what’s going on behind closed doors.

Yesterday they opened the website to those who want to apply online, you have to be 19 years or older and casting calls will beheld across the country to find the right combination of people that will make this an exciting show.

They start on the coast in Vancouver on Sept 23^rd then they roll across the mountains to Calgary for an open call at the end of the month on Sept 30^th.

The show will air on the Global Television Network starting in the winter of 2013.

The people at Insight say this will be a big show with all the interest they have received thus far from people who would like to compete.

Many of the other spin offs have been successful, so this one will probably fly too, especially if friends and family across the country tune into catch the action.

I say anything we can get to replace Canada sings is a Godsend.
