How may I donate to the CJAY 92 Kids Fund?

Cash, cheque or money orders can be dropped off between 8:30am and 5:00pm or mailed in to the CJAY 92 studios located at 1110 Centre Street North, 3rd Floor, Calgary AB T2E 2R2. Master Card, Visa or American Express transactions may be completed at our front desk or over the phone/email (403-240-5800). We are unable to accept debit card transactions. Please make cheques payable to The CJAY 92 Kids Fund.

What may I donate to the CJAY 92 Kids Fund?

We receive many offers of furniture, beds and toys. Unfortunately, we do not have the manpower or real estate to manage this type of donation properly. Cash or gift cards are preferred.

Will I get a Tax Receipt?

The CJAY 92 Kids Fund is a non-registered charity and as such we are unable to issue tax receipts at this time. We can issue a receipt for your donation but is not suitable for tax purposes.

How much do I have to donate to get an on air mention?

We appreciate all of the support that we receive from our listeners and donors. The CJAY 92 Kids Fund would not be possible without it! We get many requests for on air components but we simply can't accommodate all of them. We do try to thank as many sponsors as we can and if you feel your donation warrants this, please contact us at wish@cjay92.astral.com.

How do I know my donation is being used wisely?

It has always been our intention to keep it simple. We never wanted it weighed down with red tape or politics. We have minimal overhead as the CJAY 92 Kids Fund is run by volunteers. Every Friday morning you can tune into CJAY 92 to hear the Gerry Forbes Secret Wish and listen to the story of a local family going through trying times and how your donations are going to assist them. We also do a number of initiatives off air and can assure you that any and all donations are used professionally, timely and in accordance with good taste and with a character associated with a quality charity.

When will my donation be used?

Donations are deposited into The CJAY 92 Kids Fund account. From that one account we manage the Gerry Forbes Secret Wish and all other initiatives. Your donation will be added to the total balance and used as needed. However, if you or your company would like to sponsor an individual Gerry Forbes Secret Wish, you can contact us at wish@cjay92.astral.com for information.

How do I nominate a family for the Gerry Forbes Secret Wish?

The Gerry Forbes Secret Wish is not a contest. It is a local initiative to help families in our community. The only rules we have are: 1) The family must live in Calgary or the surrounding area 2) The family must have children under the age of 18 living in their home 3) Families cannot nominate themselves. If you know of a family that could use some help please fill out the online form found HERE, and remember to keep it a “secret”! After it's filled out please email it to wish@cjay92.astral.com

How do you decide which families get selected for the Gerry Forbes Secret Wish?

Nomination emails are reviewed once a week, and the ones that qualify are forwarded forms requesting more information. We then assess the stories and choose based on urgency and need. Unfortunately, it’s impossible for us to help all of the deserving families that we are notified about, but we do our best to make sure that the donations we receive go as far as possible.

My family/company would like to sponsor a family and do the delivery ourselves. Can you give us information about where to find a deserving family?

No. The nominations that we receive are addressed to the CJAY 92 Kids Fund, and in order to respect privacy and confidentiality, we will not be able to release any information about any of our families to the public. If you would like to make your donation through us we will make sure that it reaches a family that needs it. Or, if you would like to help a specific family who’s story you heard through the Gerry Forbes Secret Wish, we can pass them your contact information.
