Dropbox formed in 2002 after
Godsmack mastermind
Sully Erna introduced vocalist
John Kosco to ex-
Godsmack guitarist
Lee Richards. The two hit it off, and were soon working on new material with guitarist
Joe Wilkinson and bassist
Jim Preziosa. Next,
Erna tapped the band as the initial signees to Realign, his vanity imprint through Universal, and put them in the studio with helming veteran
Dave Jerden. The result was
Dropbox, which appeared in April 2004. It featured a sound influenced heavily by hard rock and vintage grunge. Though
Erna had handled drumming for the majority of the record, skins man
Bob Jenkins joined
Dropbox in time for a round of spring and summer tour dates supporting, of all people,
Godsmack.
