Other than a set released by the collectors' label Arcadia, this double-LP has all of the recordings of the legendary pianist and bandleader Peck Kelley
did his best to remain obscure and unrecorded throughout his life, despite being quite active playing in Texas. These private sessions feature him in a sextet with local players including clarinetist Dick Shannon and guitarist Felix Stagno. Kelley
stretches out on 13 standards and a blues, hinting at his roots in 1920s jazz but often sounding surprisingly modern on such numbers a "Limehouse Blues," "Riverboat Shuffle," "You Took Advantage of Me" and "Tea for Two." An important historical release that has not yet been reissued on CD.
