Album Review

Risque Rhythm: Nasty 50s R&B contains 18 raw, raunchy R&B and jump blues records from the likes of Moose Jackson, Dinah Washington, the Five Royales, Billy Ward & the Dominoes, Wynonie Harris, Roy Brown, and the Swallows. It's remarkable how explicit these double-entrendre-laced singles were, but what really makes Risque Rhythm worth acquiring is its gritty, pounding rhythms, which are just as sexy as the lyrics.
