This LP (the first of two volumes) has the first 16 recordings led by
The Dorsey Brothers. There are no personnel or date listings but this set is well worth acquiring, for it includes many fine examples of hot dance music, featuring
Tommy's trombone,
Jimmy's clarinet and alto, and appearances by trumpeters
Leo McConville and Phil Napoleon along with a variety of dated singers. Their version of "My Melancholy Baby" is a classic with TD playing some fine trumpet and bass-saxophonist
Adrian Rollini heard in a prominent role.
